I had a relative visit us a 2 weeks ago.He used my razor blade while he was staying here.he found out he got aids a few days ago.I used the same razor unaware he used it.I cant recall if I washed it before using it or if i cut myself. How long should I wait to get tested since it was just 2 weeks ago.Thanks.

if he cut himself with it, and then you cut yourself with it as well, then yes it’s possible. You need blood to blood contact to get HIV. You should get tested right away, and then again in 6 months, just to be sure, if the first test comes back negative. It can take a while for it to show up on a blood test.

I would go to the dr. immediatley. In the future never share razors or any personal items.

It is better you get tested NOW. And if you are free from HIV, you better be careful of this next time.
But before you go for the test, remove fear from your thoughts and make yourself bold enough to do it.
BE CAREFUL

I HIGHLY DOUBT YOUR ARE POSITIVE. How many hours after did you use the same blade? a couple hours? then most likely ( in fact the virus was on the blade and your relative is positive) died off. Even if you used the infected blade there is little or no risk.
Testing at 2 weeks ( like they have mentioned) is not at all reliable. At this point the virus is either dormant or replicating. The body yet needs to produce the antibody. Wait until the 6-8 week mark to get a good indictor in where you stand. A negative result at 6-8 will rarely turn positive by the 3 months mark. CDC just makes the 3 months and 6 month mark to add the “outliers” in the statistics. The outliers had some sort of heath problem that slowed down the making of the HIV antibody. Testing at 3 months will give you a CONCUSIVE result. In some RARE (1/1000000 ) a 3 month negative result will turn postive at 6 month mark.
DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT. STRESS/ANXIETY ABOUT HIV CAN CAUSE YOU SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS.

there would be a very small chance, very small. This has only happened in one know case, and that case was also thought to be by using the same tooth brush as well. Its good to checked but i would say your on the safe side. Good luck
